Using Search

How do I run a quick search?
How do I use the advanced search function?
Most of Infoxchange Australia's websites have a general search function to allow you to quickly locate relevant material anywhere on the website, including archived as well as current items.
Websites that do not have a general search function may have a search box just for the Resource Library or for the News.
Both types of searches work the same way.
How do I run a quick search?- Locate the search box, usually on the home page.
- Type the word that you wish to locate in the search box.
- Select the 'Go' or 'Search' button next to the search box to view the results.
- The list of results will have links to the relevant pages where the search terms occur. Click either the result title or 'Read more' to view these pages.
How do I use the advanced search function?
Some websites offer an advanced search function in addition to the quick search. You can get to this advanced search from a link in the quick search box, or from the results page of a quick search.
The advanced search allows you to define the search type - whether you want the search to match all the words, any of the words, or the exact phrase, that you enter in the search box.
The advanced search also lets you define whether you want the results to be case sensitive or not. Case sensitivity means that the search will only give you the results for the appearance of words that exactly match the capitalisation of words that you enter in the search box. For example, if you enter 'Cat' and select 'case sensitive', the search results will give you all pages that contain 'Cat' but not the pages that contain 'cat'.
Advanced search may also allow you to restrict your search to certain sections or categories of the website.
